Vietnam coffee outlook and dialogue forum 2014

(CDC) - According to the forecasts of many prestigious domestic and international organizations , Vietnam‘s coffee production in 2015 will continue to increase, prices will remain stable or increase slightly compared with 2014.

On 1/12, in the Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam Coffee Coordination Board (VCCB) held Forum "Vietnam Coffee Outlook and Dialogue Forum 2014". This is an annual event with the goal of updating VCCB situation and outlook for coffee.
As reported by VCCB, over the years, coffee has always been the strategic sectors of Vietnam. In 2013-2014crop, the coffee area continues to increase beyond the planning, achieved 635.029ha; production reached 1,289 million tonnes.
 Coffee production continues to increase. The export of 10 months of year 2014 increased 33,5% and 33.1% in value compared to the same period in 2013. The difference in the export price of Vietnam and the world is shrinking, domestic consumption continues to rise.
In the 2014-2015 crop, according to forecasts by the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD), coffee area of Vietnam will remain at about 626.000ha, production reached 1.3 million tons, the average yield increase about 4,2tons/ ha.
 
According IPSARD, in new crop, coffee prices usually decrease. However, in the 2014-2015 crop, domestic price and FOB price  has increased, and will decrease in the second half of 2015.
 
According to the different forecast scenarios, coffee production in Vietnam has increased. The highest forecast of Sopex Group is 1.8 million tons, Bloomberg reached 1.6 million tons.
 
Mr Do Ha Nam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Intimex Group Corporation, Vice President of the Vietnam Coffee Cocoa said; this year, coffee exports continue to increase. Up to this point, the export value is over 3.2 billion.
 
Mr. Nam said that in 2015 the price of coffee can still be maintained as this year. Export turnover in 2015 will reach over 3 billion.
