CDC introduces

Morning 21st September 2013, at Dam San hotel – Buon Ma Thuot City – DakLak province, Community Development Center (CDC) introduces “Information Portal Supports Sustainable Agriculture Development”. There are Mr. Trần Việt Hùng – Vice Chairman of the Central Highlands Steering Committee; Mr. Trần Văn Tùng – Vice Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Đinh Văn Khiết – Vice Chairman of Daklak Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyễn Văn Lạng – Former Vice Minister of Science and Technology; The Representatives of the provinces: Lâm Đồng, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, DakNong; Mr. Nguyễn Văn Hòa – Vice Director of Crop Production – MARD; The Central Extenion Center, representative of group, international and domestic partner such as: Danida, GCF, Solidaridad, Acion Aid, UN Habitat, Mars; sustainable certification orgainazations in Vietnam: UTZ Certified, 4C, Rainforest Alliance; and 300 guests.

The event attracts international and domestic companies/ organizations, communications because of humanitarian of program for beneficiaries are farmers. The purpose of “Information Portal Supports Sustainable Agriculture Development” supports technique in producing sustainable agriculture. Firstly, we are consultant directly farmers who growing coffee, cacao and tea about technique free in planning and taking care farm toward sustainbility via phone and internet. After that, we build system of consultant, support, transfering scientific and technical progress of agriculture for farmers about technique in producing coffee, cacao, tea and some of main trees in the Central Highlands. Furthermore, program expects to build forum between farmer and farmer, scientist and scientist, to share information and to develop sustainable agriculture as our slogan as “Connecting Knowledge, Serving Community”.

After more than six months in operation, the farmers sent about 4,000 questions and are responded free of charge by the leading expert about related issues such as: Agricultural practices, planting, caring and processing of coffee, cocoa or other crops, the certification standards of UTZ certified, Rainforest Alliance and 4C standard coffee UTZ certified cocoa, information on market prices of agricultural commodities, market price of agricultural materials. The website has received more than 65,000 visitors who search information about good agricultural practices (GAP).

This program totally free support to farmers. Therefore, we have researched and created the entirely new approach in Vietnam. We created an online library page on the website for farmers, www.cdc.org.vn, can download fastly and conveniently free material (documents, posters, video). In addition, farmers approach agricultural knowledge of good practices by calling the hotline number 0500-3573388 and / or submit a question via email hotro@cdc.org.vn.
In the future, "Information Portal Supports Sustainable Agriculture Development" will continue to update information on agricultural practices under the standards of UTZ CERTIFIED, 4C, Rainforest Alliance, ... as well as the circulars, the government′s policies of supporting agriculture and help farmers get rich. The program also aims to be a bridge between farmers in remote areas, ethnic minority areas with domestic and international organizations, sponsors hands for this program to continue to promote humanitarian.
