In the history of Vietnam journalism, from the 60s of the 19th century there have been some reports in turn was born in Saigon, Hanoi and some other localities. The early years of the 20th century, a series of papers published from Vietnam, a collection of writers, journalists, intellectuals in small groups but have different political leanings, could not be set into one unified organization. On June 21th1925, in Guangzhou (China), the "Youth" by Nguyen Ai Quoc founder, launched the first newspaper, The Vietnam revolutionary Journalism began to form.

On Feb, 1985, as suggested by the Vietnam Journalists Association, Secretary of The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam lauched the decision No. 52 dated Feb 05 th1985 took out the first day of Thanh Nien newspaper as Vietnam Journalism (June, 21 st1925) to enhance the role and social responsibility of the press, tighten the relationship between the press with the public, strengthen the Party‘s leadership to press. On June 21th, 1985, the first press of the country celebrated the anniversary of Vietnam Journalism and the 60th anniversary of Thanh Nien Newspaper published the first one. This is a holiday not only own the media which is a holiday of people throughout the country, as the press of the entire population.
On June, 21 th 2000, the 75-year anniversary of Vietnam Journalism Day, at the request of the Vietnam Journalists Association, The Political Bureau (Politburo) of the Central Committee Communist Party of Vietnam agreed to call Vietnam Journalism Day is The Vietnam revolutionary Journalism Day.
