Since 1997, the Forest Science Institute of Highland Agriculture, the Agricultural Development Project (Danida, GTZ) and the Central Highlands University, Center for Agriculture has developed many models to build and plant care cocoa tree care, this work has contributed significantly to form the foundation for the development of cocoa in the province.
Orientation 2015, Dak Lak maximize the advantages for the development of cocoa in a sustainable way, according to planning, strengthening intercropping cocoa trees in the orchard, fruit trees, gardens, moving change the coffee area to inefficient cocoa ... create more exports, increase economic efficiency per unit area, increasing income for farmers while protecting the ecological environment.
The province continues to review additional production regions planning, planting 4,000 ha and perform intensive investment in cocoa cultivation is to ensure that by 2015 reached 6,000 ha of cocoa, of which 2,000 ha harvested yield cocoa (dry bean fermentation is over) an average of 15 kg / ha with an output of 2800-3000 tons of cocoa beans.
To achieve the plan, Dak Lak Province set of solutions:
- Regional Planning Production expeditiously complete the planned construction of perennial plants mostly in Dak Lak province in 2020 to serve as a basis for local deployment and invites investors.
- On the basis of the plan, the cocoa-growing areas, the State continues to support investment or integrated with the agricultural development program for the renovation and upgrading of infrastructure for the development of cocoa sustainability. - Investing a portion of funding for research, breeding cocoa yield, high quality, suitable for different ecological zones of the province through programs like plants and animals, aquatic breeds and varieties Forestry 2011-2020.
