(CDC) – Model coffee in compliance with 4C standard has opened many opportunities for the enterprises to find the market, launched the value of Vietnam‘s coffee to the world and also an opportunity for farmers to sell their products with higher prices.
At the current time, Dak Lak has 5 types of sustainable coffee, including: 4C, UTZ Certified, RFA and Fairtrade. However, coffee planned under 4C standard (the cultivation based on economic, environmental and social standard) is considered as the most popular type because of its basic and easy accessment technique toward farmers.
Mr Yben Bxa, Cui village, Bang Adreng commune, Krong Ana district, Dak Lak province who has many years of experience in this model, said that; in economy, implementation and deployment and application of 4C standards for coffee has increased the value of coffee exports for farmers, who participated in the model will be beneficiaries from getting added value compared to the free market.

With the coffee business enterprises, 4C coffee is a clean product which gives them the chance to take part in the world coffee market, accesses to the high demand market, through this, enterprises can sells their products with suitable price, improves the image of Vietnam coffee quality.
For social issue, the biggest result may be mentioned that the program has successfully connected 4 houses (farmers, government, scientists and businesses) in the coordination, supporting coffee production towards sustainable development. For environmental issues, thanks to continuous training, testing and implementing, households have participated in coffee certification program increasing awareness of the protection of water resources and waste management, intensity of shade trees and some kind of cover crops to improve soil moisture and to quit farming extreme gradually, abuse drugs and plant protection for coffee growers.
At this curent time, Dak Lakt has about 45% of the total amount of certified 4C coffee in Vietnam, can be seen, the efficiency of 4C coffee production model is very great. However, small characterized of small farmers production accounts for over 80%, so the implementation was so difficult, if supported from many sources, the farmer will see their benefits clearly and willing to participate, thereby improving the quality, value and image of Vietnamese coffee beans gradually.
