Recently, Mr.Bach Thanh Tuan – Director of Community Development Center (CDC) attended “The Investment Forum Quang Nam tends to Green Growth” held by Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee, Program of Human Settlements of UNIHABITAT in cooperation with Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). Attending this important forum, there are the presence of Mr. Huynh Ngoc Son – Vice President of National Assembly, Deputy Minister of Investment and Planning, representatives of Ministry of Finance and other Ministries, departments, localities and big international organizations.
Based on the National strategy of green growth in 2011-2020 and vision to 2050 of the Government on focusing on developing industries with low cabon, using clean technology. Green Growth Forum is a chance for Quang Nam to promote the provincial initiatives and green growth strategy in connection with the provinces in the regions (such as eco-city development), aims to “Enhancing sustainable economy, social equality, sustainability in environment”. Beside it, instruction the focus investment opportunity which tend to green growth with the potential sponsors, development organizations and investors, especially in field of “developing green city, green industries, connecting rural and urban regions and eco-tourism.”

M.A. Nguyễn Quang, Director of United States Human Settlements Program in Vietnam says Quang Nam’s oriented development is an improved version. This is a pilot project. The test procedure and the final document will be a model for other provinces to when planning and improving schedule processes which are integrated spatial planning in Vietnam.
Dr. Myung Kyoon Lee – Director of Planning and green implementation, the Global Green Growth Institute says: Viet Nam in general and Quang Nam in particular need a new growth model. In which, there should be solving strategies to overcome problems beyond, outside the framework of each country, each locality. Green Growth will meet such requirements. To implement green growth strategies at national or local level we should also ensure that three pillars: economy, environment and society.
Accepting the ideas in this forum, Mr. Le Phuoc Thanh – Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee in Quang Nam says: “Province will build up a general action programs and specific each sector tends to the general objectives and the issues raised that the delegations at the forum suggested for the locality. In the immediate future, province will review and take some the consent ideas at the forum into adjusting Quang Nam’s socio-economic development plan until 2020, vision of 2050. If getting approval by the Government, Ministries, the National sectors, organizations and the delegations’ concern, Quang Nam will organize this kind of forum once two-year in order to evaluate what they achieved and give orientation for the coming time”.
