Workshop : Final Report of project ACP Daklak – Package CN14-HPA1

In the moring of Dec 12th 2013, at Dam San hotel – Buon Ma Thuot city, Community Development One Member Ltd.,(CDC) cooperated with Project Management Unit of project Agriculture Competiveness Project of Daklak (ACP) to hold the closing workshop“Transfering the general technical measures to save input cost for coffee”.

Participants included: Mr Huỳnh Quốc Thích, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak province; Mr Nguyễn Quang Thụ Deputy Director of PMU of project ACP Đăk Lăk; Mr Bạch Thanh Tuấn, Director of CDC; Mr Nguyễn Thanh Tâm, Deputy Director of CDC and, Representatives of provincial extension staff and more than 100 delegates from districts of Daklak.

Topic Transfering the general technical measures to save input cost for coffee” under the package CB14-HPA1 in the framework of project ACP Daklak. The topic was implemented from Dec 2012 to Dec2013 at 03 places of Ea H’leo, Krông Buk districts and Buôn Ma Thuột city- Đăk Lăk province. With the purpose to contribute improving cultivation of coffee, saving input cost reasonable, increasing income for coffee farmers to ensure 03 things of sustainable agriculture production: enviroment – economic – social.
At the workshop, Mr Nguyễn Thanh Tâm, Deputy Director of CDC, presenting some achieved results after 01 year of implementation as follow:
- Organizing 09 training classes for farmers in 03 places of districts/ city with 270 learners participated.
- Organizing 01ToT training class for extension staff of dicstricts and collaborators in project area.
- Organizing successful 03 on-site workshops with 244 farmers participated, about the successful model for farmers to learn and visit, change experiences with 376 farmers participated.
- Completing 01 transfering process of coffee caring techniques as saving input cost, that approved by Department of Agriculture & Rural Development of Daklak province.
- Developing 01CD introduced about Transfering the general technical measures to save input cost for coffee
- Completing the prochure of guiding process to popular and expand the coffee production as saving input cost for coffee

After discussing and evaluating the project, Mr. Nguyen Quang Thu, Deputy Director of Project Management Unit, said: "In general the topic was done very well, exceeded the targets. In the future, PMU of ACP Daklak will implement this topic on a wider area and stronger impact to the coffee growing areas in the whole Highlands ".

Mr. Bach Thanh Tuan, Director of CDC, said: "Although the topic was implemented within one year, but the project helped farmers improving coffee farming techniques towards saving input cost to increase productivity and quality. This is true for the purpose of the project bring to farmers, while matching criteria "Connecting Knowledge, Serving Community," of the CDC. On behalf of the project implementation unit, I thank the funding assistance of the PMU, Thanh Ha Fertilizers, contributed greatly to make a success of this project, as well as help us completing the goals of the project, I also wish to PMU as well as donors continue supporting farmers in the coffee development program in Dak Lak province in particular and 5 Highlands provinces in general ".

After the successful final report of this topic, the results of the model will be expand to other coffee-growing area of Dak Lak province, as well as expand the beneficiaries. All these achievements have created favorable conditions for farmers with the opportunity to study, apply to the coffee plantations of family farming in order to develop sustainable coffee.
